Wabash Falls to Hanover in Inaugural ForeverLawn Bowl 11/23/2024 5:56:47 PM Share: CANTON, OH – Wabash (8-3) dropped a heartbreaking 13-10 loss to Hanover (8-3) in the inaugural ForeverLawn Bowl as part of the Opendorse Bowl Series on Saturday, November 23, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. HANOVER (8-3) 13, WABASH (8-3) 10 Wabash was first to score, using eight plays and going 55 yards as the Little Giants put seven points on the scoreboard with five minutes remaining in the first quarter. Wabash first-year Cole Dickerson (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster) used a two-yard run for the first touchdown of the game, while junior Brody Rucker (Haskell, OK/Coweta) followed with the converted extra point for the 7-0 lead. Hanover would respond with a field goal with 53 seconds remaining in the second quarter to cut the deficit to four, 7-3. Neither team would add to the scoreboard until the fourth quarter. Wabash would add three to the board with a Rucker 25-yard field goal with 12:51 remaining in the game for the 10-3 advantage. Less than two minutes later, Hanover would use four plays to go 73 yards to even the score at 10-all with a touchdown and extra point. With only seconds remaining and the game knotted at 10-10, the Panthers would put a 38-yard field goal through the uprights to clinch the 13-10 victory. Wabash sophomore quarterback Brand Campbell (Palm Beach Gardens, FL/Palm Beach Gardens) finished the game completing 16-of-27 passes for 189 yards. Junior running back Xavier Tyler (Evansville, IN/Reitz Memorial) was the Little Giants leading rusher, compiling 74 yards on 18 attempts, while Dickerson went 43 yards and converted Wabash’s only touchdown. The Little Giant defense was led by senior linebacker Gavin Ruppert (Greenwood, IN/Greenwood) who compiled a game-high 13 tackles (8 solo, 5 assist), while Brody Frey (Carmel, IN/Carmel) recorded four tackles and an interception.
