Oberlin Captures 2024 NCAC Men's Cross Country Title 11/3/2024 2:55:00 PM Share: TERRE HAUTE, IN -- Oberlin earned the 2024 North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship on Sunday, Nov. 3, in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Yeomen finished with a total of 41 points to claim their second NCAC championship crown, first since 2022. Wittenberg finished runner-up with 51 points, while DePauw claimed third with 83 points. Wooster placed fourth (91), followed by Wabash (102), Kenyon (129), Ohio Wesleyan (193), Denison (194) and Hiram (295). After a ninth-place finish a season ago, Wabash senior Brayden Curnutt (Kokomo, IN/Western) earned the 2024 NCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Year honor. Curnutt broke the tape in 25:23.52 for his fourth All-NCAC finish after earning second-team accolades the previous three seasons. Wooster senior Drew Robertson (Bébalem, Chad/Rift Valley Academy (Kenya)) finished second with a time of 25:28.90 for his second-consecutive All-NCAC first-team certificate. Oberlin senior Walter Moak (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle HS) placed third, crossing the line in 25:35.17, to collect his second-straight first-team honor after also earning second-team laurels in 2022. Wittenberg senior Conor Kolka (Dexter, MI/Dexter) finished in fourth in a time of 25:37.87, making him the only four-time All-NCAC first-team honoree this season. Oberlin senior Jonah Barber (Tucson, AZ/University High School) placed fifth in a time of 25:45.94 to earn a third-straight All-NCAC certificate after claiming first-team honors in 2023 and second-team accolades in 2022. Wittenberg sophomore Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH/Northmont) and Oberlin sophomore Piers Shirk (University Place, WA/Curtis Senior) made their All-NCAC debuts after placing sixth (25:51.21) and seventh (25:53.83), respectively. Wittenberg freshman Brandon Anderson (Dexter, MI/Dexter) was named the 2024 NCAC Newcomer of the Year after registering an eighth-place finish with a time of 26:04.24. The Newcomer of the Year award goes to the highest placing runner at the championships in their first year of collegiate cross country. Oberlin claimed the 2024 Coaching Staff of the Year honors, the second coaching award in program history. The Yeomen are led by Head Coach Izzy Alexander and Assistant Eric Line.
