PARIS, FR - On Monday, former Hiram swimmer
Jamal Hill competed in the 50m Freestyle (S9) at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, France. Hill won his preliminary heat with a time of 25.34 before finishing fifth in the event final with a mark of 25.62.
During his collegiate career, Hill swam for the Terriers in each of his three seasons from 2013 to 2016, with the 2015-16 marking his best season across four different events: 50 Freestyle, 50 Fly, 100 Freestyle and 100 Fly.
"Even with all the trials and tribulations, if it wasn't for Hiram, I wouldn't have swam in college. They gave me the opportunity to take the next step."
Hill then moved to Southern California, where he trained at the University of Southern California as part of the Trojan Elite Swim Team. Throughout his training, Hill was also battling Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a condition that impacts the nerves in your feet, legs, hands and arms.
Since then, the Inglewood, CA native has flourished as a national champion, Paralympic medalist, author and a motivational figure for other athletes with disabilities and all those fighting Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Further details on the achievements and his experiences can also be found on the
Jamal Hill website and the
Team USA website.
