Heptathlon & Decathlon Open Outdoor Championships 4/27/2025 4:30:00 PM Share: OBERLIN, OH - The 2025 NCAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Combined Championships were held on Saturday-Sunday, April 26-27, at Oberlin College. DePauw senior Katie Moore (Lawrenceville, IL/Lawrenceville) won the heptathlon with 4,751 points, while DePauw senior Daniel Jansen (Okawville, IL/Okawville) earned the win in the decathlon with 6,155 total points. Moore claimed the heptathlon victory after placing first in the javelin (33.92m) and 800-meter run (2:24.39), tying for first with Denison first-year Emery Kurth (Sante Fe, NM/Santa Fe Preparatory School) in the high jump (1.53m), and earning second in the 100-meter hurdles (14.67), 200-meter dash (26.68), shot put (10.00m) and the long jump (5.24m). Jansen earned the decathlon win after taking first in the long jump (6.31m), pole vault (4.25m), and javelin throw (42.60m), tying for first with Denison junior Justin Tharayil (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) in the high jump (1.86m), placing second in the shot put (10.86m) and discus throw (33.15m), earning third in the 100-meter dash (11.52), 110-meter hurdles (15.74) and 400-meter dash (53.71) and collecting a sixth-place finish in the 1500-meter run (5:24.48). Other first-place finishes in the heptathlon went to Wooster junior Daysia Hargrave (Orrville, OH/Orrville), who won the 100-meter hurdles (14.53), Wittenberg junior Ziciah Gibson (Cambridge, OH/Cambridge), who placed first in the shot put (10.46m), Wooster senior Amelia Mitchell (Harrisonburg, VA/Harrisonburg), who won the 200-meter dash (26.43), and Wittenberg senior Lainee Valentine (Marion, OH/River Valley), who earned first in the long jump (5.32m). In the decathlon, DePauw first-year Tucker Risley (Bruceville, IN/South Knox) collected first place finishes in the shot put (12.92m) and discus throw (41.05m), Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Michael Strange (High Bridge, NJ/Voorhees) recorded victories in the 100-meter dash (11.20) and the 400-meter dash (51.81), and Ohio Wesleyan first-year Michael Hess (Painesville, OH/Fairport Harding) crossed the line first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.60) and 1500-meter run (4:50.44). The 2025 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held Friday-Saturday, May 2-3, at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Total team points from the combined events will be factored into next weekend's results toward the final team standings. After the heptathlon, Wittenberg has earned 14 points, followed by DePauw (10), Wooster (8), Denison (4), Hiram (2) and Oberlin (1). Following the completion of the decathlon, DePauw and Ohio Wesleyan currently have 13 points apiece, while Wittenberg (6), Denison (4), Oberlin (2) and Wooster (1) all scored team points.
