Wabash, DePauw Women Lead NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships 5/2/2025 8:00:00 PM Share: GREENCASTLE, IN – Wabash sits atop the men's standings, while DePauw holds the lead in the women's standings at the 2025 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships after the first day of competition at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. The Little Giants captured 74.5 total points in the men’s standings after posting 10 top-five finishes, including a win in the 10,000-meter run, pole vault and shot put. The DePauw women earned the top spot after the first day with 88.0 total points thanks to 10 top-five finishes, including wins in the 10,000-meter run and 3,000-meter steeplechase. Wittenberg sits in second in the men's standing with 48.5 points, followed by Denison (42.0), Ohio Wesleyan (25.5), Oberlin (23.5), Wooster (22.0), DePauw (20.0), Kenyon (12.0) and Hiram (5.0). On the women's side, Wittenberg sits in second after the first day with 58.5 points, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (29.0), Denison (25.0), Kenyon and Wooster (22.0), Oberlin (14.5) and Hiram (14.0). Point totals include last weekend's combined events. The championships began with the men’s 10,000-meter run, as Wabash senior Brayden Curnutt (Kokomo, IN/Western) won the 2025 title in a new NCAC-record time of 30:38.75, while the women's event was won by DePauw senior Sophie Porter (Westfield, IN/Westfield) in a time of 37:28.37. Eight field events were then contested, as Wabash senior Will Morris (Plainfield, IN/Plainfield) captured gold in the men's pole vault with a height of 15’ 05.00", while Ohio Wesleyan junior Claire Coleman (Cincinnati, OH/Ursuline Academy) posted a mark of 10’ 11.75” to claim the women’s title. Wittenberg first-year Isabelle Henderson (East Liberty, OH/ Benjamin Logan) earned the women’s long jump with a distance of 18’ 07.00”, while the men’s title went to Wittenberg senior Bryce Ray (Sun City, FL/Sumner) with a mark of 23’ 03.25”. Wabash junior Evan Furuness (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) collected the top spot in the men's shot put with a throw of 50’ 05.25”, while the women’s title went to Wooster junior Evie Sanford (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) with a heave of 43’ 09.25”. Denison sophomore Mariel Drost (North Royalton, OH/Saint Joseph Academy) claimed the women's hammer throw title with a toss of 147’ 01.00”, while Denison senior Chris Slater (Hudson, OH/Hudson) earned the men’s victory with an NCAC-record heave of 187’ 01.00”. Day one ended on the track with Oberlin senior Walter Moak (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) earning the victory in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:12.55, while the women's event title was earned by DePauw senior Kendall Mann (New Palestine, IN/New Palestine), who timed in at 10:55.68. The 2025 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will continue tomorrow, Saturday, May 3, with 28 events beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the women's high jump and discus as well as the men's javelin and triple jump. The women's triple jump will begin at 12:00 p.m. and be followed by the men’s high jump and discus and the women’s javelin all starting at 12:30 p.m. Track events will begin at 2:15 p.m. with the men's 4x100 meter relay.
