Extra Points Returns for Third Year as Bowl Sponsor in Opendorse Bowl Series

Extra Points, a leading newsletter covering business, policy and off-the-field stories in the college sports industry, is thrilled to announce it is returning for the third year as the official title sponsor of The Extra Points Bowl, part of the Opendorse Bowl Series at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

The Extra Points Bowl will feature football teams that do not qualify for the NCAA Division III Playoffs between two of the four conferences affiliated with the Opendorse Bowl Series, which includes the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, North Coast Athletic Conference, Ohio Athletic Conference and the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. The game will be played on Nov. 21st, 2026, and will once again be held at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

For the third year in a row, the Extra Points Bowl will be the second game that day with a 6 pm kickoff. To try to prevent either game that day from being a rematch from the regular season, the conference match-ups for the Opendorse Bowl Series will be determined later.

In the inaugural Extra Points Bowl in 2024, Westminster College (8-3) from the Presidents' Athletic Conference defeated Marietta College (8-3) from the Ohio Athletic Conference, 27-13, under the lights at Tom Benson Stadium.

Westminster returned for the 2025 Extra Points Bowl and the Titans (8-3) improved to 2-0 in the Bowl with a 40-21 victory over the College of Mount St. Joseph (6-5) from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Fans will also be able to watch a broadcast of the Extra Points Bowl on FloSports. Additional broadcast, kickoff and ticket information will be available at a later date.

“There are a couple of reasons we were interested in doing this for a third year," said Matt Brown, the founder and publisher of Extra Points. "Being involved in sponsoring a bowl game has taught us a lot about the business and operations behind running major events. Because I now have a little experience behind-the-scenes of these games, I can ask more informed questions to other leaders and industry executives, which pays off in better reporting. The more lived experience we get, the more we’ll continue to learn.

"But the biggest reason we signed up to do this again is for ideological reasons, too," continued Brown. "I grew up in a D-III football town (Granville, Ohio, home of the Denison University Big Red) and have deep connections to many of the institutions that could play in this game. And the longer I run Extra Points, the more connected I become to small colleges. I know how hard the players, the ADs, the coaches—the everybody—work each season. They all deserve a special moment, a unique experience in their athletic careers. It’s important to do stuff because we think it’s the right thing and supporting D-III sports falls into that bucket for me.

"The Extra Points Bowl has been a highlight of my career over the past two seasons. I certainly expect to feel the same way after Extra Points Bowl III later next month."
