16 NCAC Athletes Open Day 1 of NCAA Outdoor T&F Championships

LA CROSSE, WI - The 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships opened on Thursday, May 21, at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex, and 16 North Coast Athletic Conference student-athletes took center stage in their respective events.
 
Three NCAC individuals and two relays will look to collect first-team All-America honors after placing in the top nine of their preliminary races. John Carroll sophomore Sam Su (Akron, OH/Woodridge) finished second in the men’s 1500-meter run prelims with a time of 3:46.63 to earn a spot in the finals which are scheduled for 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, while Blue Streak sophomore Dakota Houston (Beachwood, OH/Beachwood) broke her own school record and placed fifth in the women’s 200-meter dash prelims (23.84) to advance into the finals at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, and Wittenberg sophomore Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) finished ninth in the men’s 200-meter dash (21.36) and moves on to compete in the finals on Saturday at 4:50 p.m. In the men’s 4x400-meter relay prelims, John Carroll graduate Tyler Gast (Olmsted Township, OH/Olmsted Falls), junior Jack Arnold (Berea, OH/Berea Midpark) and seniors Tony Tirado (Chicago, IL/St. Ignatius College Prep) and Basheer Alramahi (Westlake, OH/Westlake) turned in a time of 3:10.75 for fourth, while Wittenberg senior Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH/Springfield), junior Owen Bier (Elyria, OH/Midview) and sophomores Kory Davis (Brookville, OH/Brookville) and Kittle crossed the line in 3:11.03 for fifth. Both squads will compete in the 4x400-meter relay finals on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
 
Earning second-team All-America honors on day one were Wabash senior Quinn Sholar (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central), who placed 15th in the discus throw with a heave of 48.20 meters, and DePauw junior Liberty Scott (Galveston, IN/Lewis Cass) and Denison senior Emily Brennan (Stittsville, Ontario/Sacred Heart), who placed 13th (1:02.12) and 14th (1:02.18) in the 400-meter hurdle prelims.
 
Additionally, the John Carroll women’s 4x400-meter relay team of Houston, seniors Paige Munchick (Medina, OH/Cloverleaf) and Rosie Murray (Chardon, OH/Hawken) and sophomore Sandra King (Akron, OH/ Buchtel) placed 15th in the prelims (3:52.62).
 
The 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will continue Friday, May 22, at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
