Six NCAC Student-Athletes Earn CSC Academic All-America® Baseball Honors

Six North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) student-athletes have been named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® Baseball Teams, announced Tuesday, June 23.

Denison leads the conference with three honorees, while Wittenberg, DePauw, and Wooster each contribute one selection. Denison's Erik Sundgren (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) highlighted the league after he earned second-team honors for the second consecutive year.

Junior catcher Andrew Fazio (Minneapolis, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) earned first-team Academic All-America® honors as a key contributor to Denison's national championship defense. A biology major with a 3.92 GPA, Fazio started 45 of the 47 games he appeared in, batting .329 with 51 hits, 38 runs scored, and 41 RBI while posting a .477 slugging percentage. Behind the plate, he recorded 365 putouts and 23 assists with a .997 fielding percentage. Fazio earned All-NCAC second-team recognition this season.

Senior third baseman Alex Nemunaitis (Perrysburg, OH/Ottawa Hills) earned first-team Academic All-America® honors, becoming the first Wittenberg baseball player to receive Academic All-America® recognition since 1991. A biochemistry and molecular biology major with a 3.96 GPA, Nemunaitis led the Tigers this spring with a .451 batting average, 56 RBI, and 132 total bases. He earned All-NCAC first-team honors and was a D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings first-team All-Region selection in Region VII, adding fourth- and second-team All-American recognition.

Senior first baseman Max Fishbein (Atlanta, GA/Pace Academy) earned second-team Academic All-America® honors after anchoring the infield for the national champion Big Red. A data analytics major with a 3.63 GPA, Fishbein started 42 of the 48 games he played, leading the team with 22 double plays while batting .364 with 55 hits, 32 runs, and 35 RBI. He finished with a .570 slugging percentage and a .479 on-base percentage, earning All-NCAC third-team recognition.

Senior center fielder Erik Sundgren (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) earned Academic All-America® second-team honors for the second consecutive year. An applied mathematics major with a 3.78 GPA, Sundgren closed his career with a .373 batting average, a career-high 79 hits, 74 runs, 64 RBI, and a team-leading 40 walks, finishing second on the team with a .660 slugging percentage. He earned first-team All-NCAC, first-team D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, and third-team D3baseball.com All-American recognition this spring.

Junior shortstop Max Bond (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) earned third-team Academic All-America® honors after a standout two-way season for the Tigers. A biochemistry major with a 3.76 GPA, Bond hit .307 with 54 hits, 49 runs scored, nine home runs, and 51 RBI, drawing a team-high 36 walks. Defensively, he posted a .968 fielding percentage as part of 27 double plays and earned the NCAC Gold Glove Award at shortstop. Bond also received first-team All-NCAC, first-team D3baseball.com All-Region, and second-team ABCA/Rawlings All-Region recognition.

Senior catcher Colin Leslie (Chicago, IL/Brother Rice) earned third-team Academic All-America® honors, becoming the ninth Academic All-America® honoree from the Fighting Scots baseball program. An education and urban studies major with a 3.96 GPA, Leslie earned first-team All-NCAC honors this spring after throwing out more than 50 percent of would-be base stealers and picking off 10 runners. He batted .317 with 45 hits, 38 runs, and 10 home runs, earning first-team D3baseball.com All-Region, second-team ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, and ABCA Region VII All-Defensive Team recognition.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve. The teams are selected by College Sports Communicators.
